MULTI-SITE OPERATIONS AND GEOGRAPHIC BUSINESS CONTINUITY IN A POST 9/11 WORLD
Over the past five years, both naturally induced and man-made disasters have forced a dramatic re-thinking in the way government and business operations need to be deployed. Large operations are now targeted by terrorists, disgruntled employees, and amateur hackers. Hurricane Katrina, the Montreal ice storm, the Oklahoma bombing, and the Edmonton tornado are all examples events causing increased sensitivity to operational fault tolerance. The rapid growth in data volumes also requires new approaches that drive operational efficiency. It is clear that traditional approaches, such as regular backups or remote mirroring of data, is an insufficient response to protecting organizations from today's realities and driving business efficiency.
This talk will draw on YottaYotta's extensive experience with the front line of next generation operations - the international agency and federal government space. Their experience and solutions will be extrapolated to trends in operational continuity and distributed enterprise. The lessons from the leading-edge will be applied to the reality of Alberta's business and government community in better protecting our operations and driving down our operational costs.
