Hello and welcome to the second edition of Massive eNews!
At Massive, our goal to produce Canada's #1 technology show is only part of our mission. Our 'bigger picture' focus is to encourage more use of technology in every day business. We believe that technology is shaping the future of business by enabling companies of all sizes to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.
Everyone, including small business owner Campground owner/operator Lynn Wilbur and enterprise level executives like Darren Entwistle (CEO, Telus), is taking advantage of the IT conveniences. Wilbur recently signed up for a new wireless satellite service for higher speed internet access in his remote location, while Entwistle uses valuable eLearning modules regularly to train and motivate his staff of over 20,000 across Canada. Because of this growing need for new technologies in business, we promise to bring you useful, relevant information on technology along with our Massive show updates every month (scroll the the bottom of the email for an interesting article on AJAX).
Keep reading for more important show information, and to find out how you can get involved!
Sincerely,
Lindsay Smith, Executive Producer

This is a clear indication that we are living in a "speak" rather than a "be spoken to" era. As more and more media, both professional and amateur, embrace this trend, many are predicting the end of traditional journalism as we know it.
Come and hear the truth about this important form of communication, and its impact on your business, and your life. Our Keynote Speaker, Leonard Brody, co-founder of one of the largest eye-witness news networks in the world, will kick-off the conference with this fascinating presentation.

ARTICLE: The Benefits of Ajax By Andre Charland, CEO, Nitobi
Ajax, popularized by Google (Gmail and Google Maps) and Microsoft (Atlas), give web apps a desktop experience. However, businesses want to understand what the applicability is to the bottom line. A comparison between a traditional web application and an Ajax one shows that dramatic quantifiable cost savings can be measured when looking at specific application metrics.
There's a lot of hype surrounding the latest web development craze, Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), and a considerable amount of skepticism about it's usefulness in the business realm. Surprisingly, while there is a lot of talk about what amazing things you can do with this approach, there is very little information about the applicability to business. There are quantifiable benefits to be realized for end users and businesses which include improved usability and faster applications. These translate to hard cost savings which I'll explore in this article. It's important for developers to be able to explain the benefits of Ajax to other business stakeholders in these terms so that they are speaking the language of business, which is universally understood.
