Dave's involvement with technology began back in the early days of computing when the sale of his Apple II computer fueled his first business venture. With the $1000 proceeds he received from its sale, he started a retail store in his parents' basement. This company was the beginning of Doppler Computer Superstores, which became (as reported by IBM and Microsoft) the pioneer to today's electronics Superstores, with operations in the US & Canada. In 1995, Dave was designated Entrepreneur of the Year by the Young Entrepreneurs Organization. In 1997, Dave was selected as a Top 30 Entrepreneur by The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It was this same year (1997) that Dave founded the company Chalk Media Corp.
The Technology Visionary
With over 25 years of experience in the computer industry, Dave is highly regarded in the technology arena as a trusted expert. Dave's approach to technology is to empower people with the technical information they need to become more productive and enhance their lives. In response, he created DTV - a television show that provided practical computer information. Within a few months numerous television stations requested that the show be developed into a regular television series. Dave's show has since gone through many incarnations, won several awards along the way (including TV Guide ranking it 'One of the 50 Best Shows on TV'), and is now known as Dave Chalk Connected, shown in-.flight on Air Canada.
The Person
The thing that most people do not know about Dave is that he is successful despite an extreme form of dyslexia and a cognitive brain condition. Not only did Dave survive his obstacles, but he uses them as stepping stones to triumph.
