Alicia Whalen (Moderator)

Co-Founder, A Couple of Chicks e-Marketing

Alicia Whalen is the co-founder of ACoupleofChicks.com - recognized as the prominent hospitality and travel Internet marketing strategy consultancy firm in Canada and beyond with clients that include Marriott International, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Travel Alberta, Nova Scotia Tourism and Starwood Hotels.

She has also developed a successful online tourism marketing Blog; www.ideahatching.com and continues to educate about search engine optimization and Online Marketing best practices with the “Chicks” popular e-Marketing workshops and speaking engagements.

A Couple of Chicks are also annual Online Revealed Conference – May 13-14 in Calgary, they have published over 30 articles on search marketing best practices and they are currently working on their first Online Marketing Guide to be published this Spring.


 

Paul Jeszenszky (Panelist)

Senior Manager, eBay Canada Online Marketing

As a ten year veteran of Online Marketing, Paul Jeszenszky is highly regarded in the Canadian marketplace as a top subject matter expert and in particular, a leader in the search marketing field.

Currently Paul is the Senior Manager for eBay Canada’s online marketing team. His priorities there include managing one of Canada’s largest online advertising programs, developing online marketing strategy and working to further develop eBay’s cutting-edge marketing technologies.

Before joining eBay, Paul was Director of Search Marketing for OMD (Canada) – the first person to fill such a role in a Canadian Agency - where he oversaw clients including Dell, Apple, Nissan, Pepsi, Hertz, Intuit and Campbell’s. Prior roles held include: VP Online Marketing for a Venture Capital firm; Online Marketing Manager for The Shopping Channel, Canada’s largest TV retailer (Top 10 Canadian Online Retailer); and Online Marketing Consultant for clients ranging from leading industry specific portals (i.e. InfoMine.com) to start-up companies (i.e. VictoryGaming.com, creators of Unilever’s “Degree Poker” and “Degree Fashionista Challenge”).

His passion for the internet also extends into the marketing community. He was a member the 2007 CMA Digital Marketing conference committee, has spoken at events as a featured panelist, run search marketing workshops, and has been featured in training videos by MSN.


 

Fred Vallaeys (Panelist)

Google's AdWords Evangelist, Google Inc.

Frederick is Google's AdWords Evangelist. In this role, he helps advertisers learn about which Google products can best solve their marketing needs and he represents the needs of advertisers with the engineering and product management teams. He has been involved in the design of many of AdWords' core features as well as those related to new and traditional media.

Prior to Google, Frederick was an engineer at Sapient and a part-time wedding photographer who found new customers through AdWords. He joined Google in 2002 to help bring AdWords to the Dutch and Belgian markets. He earned his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 2000.


 

Joanne Acri (Panelist)

Online Marketing Manager, Yahoo! Canada

Joanne Acri is the Marketing Manager at Yahoo! Canada responsible for developing plans and strategy for products and services including Mail, Messenger, Lifestyle and Music. She works closely with teams around the world to share campaigns, best practices and to help create a seamless user experience.

A seasoned offline marketer, Joanne began her online career over 8 years ago at globeandmail.com, eventually becoming part of Bell Globemedia Interactive where she was also responsible for all consumer and trade marketing for TSN.ca.

Prior to making online marketing her main focus, she worked at Sony of Canada developing print and direct mail campaigns for the computer products division. Joanne has also worked agency side developing everything from tradeshows and events to rebate programs.
