Karim Virjee

Vice President - IT, Technopoly

Based in Toronto, Karim researches, teaches and leads IT Infrastructure initiatives for financial institutions, payment processors, telecom companies, and online gaming providers. He feeds his curiosity by immersing himself in projects involving security, forensics and fraud including the application of Kalman filters for collusion detection in a multitude of systems including money laundering, telecom fraud, and online poker collusion. This in turn has led him to look at the social networks of fraud.

Karim believes strongly in assisting people trying to build a strong security skill and mind set – he occasionally teaches security topics at Seneca @ York.


 

Andrew J. Berkuta, CISSP

Senior Security Evangelist / Strategist, McAfee Inc.

Andrew Berkuta is a Senior Security Evangelist / Strategist and executive liaison for McAfee, Inc., leaders in comprehensive security solutions, and thought leadership, and is the Chairman of the Advisory Board for the World Summit on Intrusion Prevention (WSIP) and IntrusionWorld.

Andrew consults regularly with executives and clients from a unique customer’s prospective. Andrew is McAfee’s dynamic and passionate speaker who frequently speaks at keynotes, partner events, and professional conferences. Andrew is well versed on various security concepts, trends, and techniques, and presents with business as the focus.

Prior to joining the McAfee Security team, he was a Network and Physical Security Director in the mortgage industry for HomeBanc Mortgage Corporation, started three (3) companies - including one not for profit company. He was a manager of a unique proof of concept lab and independent Cisco Lab, and has a diverse consulting background that spans more than 20 years in companies such as Equifax, Georgia Pacific, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, American Cyanamid/Lederle Labs, and The Family Channel.

Andrew studied Computer Science at Pennsylvania State University, and graduated from Temple University with a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Science. He obtained various industry certifications such as CNE, MCSE, VCSE, and CISSP.


 

Richard Wang

Head of US SophosLabs, SophosLabs

Richard Wang heads up one of Sophos’s global network of security threat analysis centers located in Boston, Massachusetts. Richard has been involved with malicious sofware reasearch at Sophos for over a decade and brings a wealth of security expertise to SophosLabs. He moved to the US in 2003 from the company’s UK headquarters in Abingdon, England to lead Sophos' North American malware research labs. Richard leads a team of researchers across Canada and the US who provide proactive protection for over 100 million users worldwide.

In addition to playing a significant role in the overall protection of Sophos’s customers, Richard regularly works with the company’s spokespeople to ensure that the media and general public is kept abreast of the most up-to-date security threats. Richard holds a Master's in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford.


 

James Drohan

James Drohan is a managing partner with Vernon Technology Solutions (Vernon). As General Manger James is responsible all lines of business Vernon is engaged with. James has been active in the Canadian technology marketplace since 1983. James has held senior management positions within the technology leasing, remarketing and recycling industry.
