It’s time to start taking notes. Tech experts from the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) are opening up on how technology has been a key driver in planning for the 2010 Winter Games.

Vicky Ryan (Moderator)
Manager, Games-time Training Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games
As VANOC’s Manager of Games-time Training, Vicky is responsible for the design, development and delivery of the orientation and training programs for the 2010 Winter Games workforce. Before VANOC, Vicky worked at Chalk Media as the Director of Interactive Production, where she oversaw the production of award-winning, interactive learning programs for a wide variety of corporate clients, like RIM, AstraZeneca, Royal Bank, Sony, and Best Buy.
Earlier in her career, Vicky worked for Deutsche Bank and Cable & Wireless UK. She graduated from Simon Fraser University with a degree in Behavioural Sciences, and is a member of their Writing and Publishing Program.
Vicky volunteers her time on the National Board of Directors for the Wired Woman Society – a non-profit association dedicated to mentorship, education and networking for women in the technology sector. Other volunteer roles include leading workshops and presentations, facilitation, and judging/evaluations for various associations across North America.

David Marshall
Director - Internet Systems, Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games
As Director, Internet Systems, David is responsible for the successful implementation of the over 30 internet projects, systems and applications that will make up the vancouver2010.com portal. During games time, the official Vancouver 2010 portal will be one of the busiest websites in Canada with anticipated traffic in excess of 1 billion page views over a 6 week period.
David is an Internet and business visionary with a proven ability to execute and capitalize on business opportunities emerging from the evolution of internet technology. Highlights from David’s career include the founding of two successful Internet technology companies and five years experience working a National Director at one of Canada’s leading accounting and management consulting firms.

Nicole Mirante
Application Manager - Games Management Systems, Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games
Nicole Mirante has been working as a software professional for over ten years, first with Acer Inc. in Taiwan and then with several organisations in Canada, including this last year with Vancouver 2010. Her technical expertise extends to hardware configuration, network administration, data mining, software systems design, and business analysis.
Nicole was born and raised in Italy, where she obtained an MA in Chinese Language and Literature. She lived in China and Taiwan for several years before moving to Canada, where she has obtained a PhD in Literature. In her spare time, she teaches composition and literature courses at the University of British Columbia.

Mary Conibear
Director - Information Systems, Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games
As Director, Information Systems, Mary is responsible for sourcing or developing over 70 systems to be implemented over the 3 years leading up to the 2010 Winter Games. She also holds the role of co-Chair of VANOC's Games Operations Team which leads the organization's operational planning.
Since moving to Vancouver 15 years ago, Mary has worked in a number of industries and roles -- including publishing, marketing, and continuing legal education -- with the last 10 years focused on IT project management. She joined VANOC in November 2003 as part of a 20-person staff and has enjoyed watching the organization grow to its current size of over 650 employees.
